Setting

The Sealed City is a new fanmade setting for Mordheim. It shifts the focus from the Empire's east to a once hidden city in the Great Ocean. Accidentally discovered by a Tilean carrack fleeing from Dark Elf slavers, the city is located on a vast plateau-like island, which seems to have emerged from the ground of the sea. The city itself could also be seen as a single structure of cyclopean size, streaked by several layers of walls and topped by a lithic roof.

When the carrack's sailors brought back a blueish glowing mineral and broken clockwork devices to Tilea, their worth was perceived by an alchemist of House Fierezza, a noble Tilean family, and he persuaded the family's patriarch Ricardo di Fierezza thereafter to fund an expedition to the discovered island.

Unfortunately running short on gold, the Fierezzas had to bargain with other houses to get the expedition up and so the houses Baluardo and Halcon joined as the venture's financiers. Hiring ships and crews the expeditioners were accompanied by Henrik Bramstetter and his fellow scholars, extraordinarily intrigued with the discovered clockworks. Soon they were heading to the Great Ocean's north.

Months later the island's cliffed coast now houses a fast growing Tilean outpost filled with buccaneers, fortune hunters, scholars, workers and the three Houses' guards and members - all longing for the treasures, moonstone and secrets that can be harvested from the abandoned city.

But the city doesn't make the pillaging easy, for each of its ring-like districts is sealed with another impenetrable wall and their clockwork-driven gates will only open with the right number of key fragments, giving access to the next inner ring. Five such rings surround the central district, the Inner Sanctum how Bramstetter's Clockworkers use to call it.

While an unbreakable truce rules the outpost, the city's streets tremble under the ambitions of the rapacious, the clamour of fightings and whimper of the dying. But violence isn't the only danger in the darkened city for there are maddening terrors in the deep shadows, which no mortal mind may behold and remain unchanged.
